Concrete Foundations & Slabs in the Austin Area

Formed, reinforced and poured for what goes on top — in Georgetown and across the Austin metro.

A slab is the part of a build nobody looks at and everything else depends on. Get it wrong and every trade after you inherits the problem: walls out of square, doors that will not hang, tile that cracks along a line nobody can explain.

We form it, set the steel, put the vapour barrier down and pour it knowing exactly what is going on top — because usually we are the ones framing on it a week later.

What's included

Reinforcement matters more here than in most of the country. Blackland clay moves seasonally, so a slab in this metro spends its life being pushed on from underneath. Steel laid properly and tied, at the right height in the pour rather than lying on the dirt, is what decides whether it cracks in year two or holds.

Slabs for houses, additions, garages, workshops and cabins. Also footings and piers when what is going up is not sitting on a full slab.

How we work

Measure against what is going on it

The slab is set out from the structure, not the other way round. A dimension that is off here is an argument on every day that follows.

Form, grade and set the steel

Ground prepared, forms braced, reinforcement tied and chaired up off the dirt so it ends up inside the concrete where it does something.

Pour and finish

Poured, screeded and finished to the surface the job needs — a garage floor and a cabin pad are not the same finish.

Cure before anything sits on it

Concrete gains strength over days, not hours. Rushing what comes next is how a good pour ends up with a cracked corner.

Concrete Foundations & Slabs by city

The ground moves differently from one part of this metro to the next, and the houses on it are different ages.

Common questions

How long before we can build on it?
Days rather than hours, and it depends on the weather and the pour. We will give you a real date rather than telling you what you would like to hear.
Why do slabs crack around here?
Blackland clay swells and shrinks with the seasons and pushes on the slab from underneath. Proper reinforcement and preparation are what decide whether that movement matters.
Can you pour a pad for a cabin or a workshop?
Yes, and it is common work for us — often for a cabin we are also building, which means the pad is sized for it exactly.
